Algemeen-GeneralPosted by Jeanneke 16 May, 2010 10:54:39Een paar jaar geleden was ik er al eens geweest, op het Quiltfestival in Wilwerwiltz (Luxemburg), dit jaar was het weer. Dus gisteren al vroeg op pad voor een 3 uur durende autorit. Dat is écht geen straf, rijdend door het mooie Brabant (mijn geboortegrond), Limburg (mijn DH geboortegrond), Luik (jaaa, juist het grijze is mooi!), Belgische Ardennen en tenslotte het mooie landschap van Luxemburg.
I already went to it a few years ago, to the Quiltfestival in Wilwerwiltz (Luxembourg), this year it was organised again. So yesterday we left very early for a three hours drive. That's really no punishment, driving through Brabant (my homeground), Limburg (my DH homeground), Liege (yeh, the greyness of the town is beautifull!), Belgian Ardennes and finaly the beautifull landscape of Luxembourg.
Middenin het knusse dorpje is een enorme tent opgezet met daaromheen een aantal 'Futterkrippe', ha, ha, dat zijn van die gezellige eet- en drinkkraampjes. Binnen in de tent verwacht je niet dit te zien:
In the middle of the cosy village they've build up a huge tent, surrounded with a lot of 'Futterkrippe', ha, ha, that are those eating- and drinking boots. Inside the tent you didn't expect to see this:
Allemaal kraampjes! Het leuke is dat dit bijna allemaal winkeltjes zijn die we op Nederlandse beursen niet tegenkomen, dus je ziet weer heel andere dingen.
All this booths! The nice thing is that we don't see this shops at Dutch quilting fairs/festivals, so you can see 'new' things.
Het leukste kraampje was van deze twee dames, helemaal mijn smaak. Volgens mij hadden ze hun hele winkel mee naar Wilwerwiltz gebracht! Ik bleef kijken, steeds zag ik weer wat nieuws. Vooral de geborduurde quilts waren heel mooi.
The booth I'd liked the most was this one, owned by two nice ladies. I think they brought their whole shop with them to Wilwerwiltz... I was amazed, everytime I saw something new. The embroided quilts and bags where beautiful.
Daarna naar het gemeenschapshuis gelopen waar nog een aantal tentoonstellingen te zien waren, o.a. van Masako Wakayama, die wondermooie quilts maakt met stoffen die ze zelf ontwerpt. Al haar quilts hebben dezelfde kleurstelling, rood-blauw-creme, en bestaan uit een combinatie van gehaakte kantjes, oude kleedjes, wolletjes en katoentjes.
After that we walked to the communityhouse where there were a few exhibitions, a.o. from Masako Wakayama, who makes marvelous quilts from fabrics she's designed herself. All her quilts have the same colourcombination, red-blue-off white, and are made using crocheted lace, old textiles, wool and cottons.
In de omliggende dorpen waren ook nog andere tentoonstellingen. We redden het niet om alles te zien, wel hebben we genoten van het mooie weer (eindelijk de zon!) en prachtige omgeving. Over twee jaar gaan we zeker weer, en dan voor twee dagen.
In the surrounded villages there were more exhibitions. We didn't make it to view everything, but we enjoyed the weather (finaly the sun again!!!) and beautiful surroundings. Next time we certainly go again, then for two days.

As you can see I always make my small quilts by hand. I try to finish one each month. Sometimes it's not going fast enough, then happens this...
'Valentine', formaat 87,5 x 105 cm, gepatched op de naaimachine en gequilt met de hand ... dit zou eigenlijk een poppenquiltje worden, maar werd uiteindelijk een babyquilt!
Houdt mijn Blog goed in de gaten want ik ga een aantal getoonde (poppen)patroontjes verloten in mijn 100ste post.

Het was ontzettend interessant en ze had ook veel antieke quilts bij zich. Ik heb ook heel veel foto's gemaakt, vooral van haar antieke kinderquiltje dat ik aan het namaken ben. Last friday we went to the Regionday of the Dutch Quiltersgild, An Moonen was there to give a reading about the history of Dutch Antique quilts. It was very interesting, and she brought a lot of Antique quilts with her. I've made many pictures, especially from the Antique cribquilt wich I'm copying at the moment. Alas An doesn't want us to publish photographs on the internet, but THIS, THIS and THIS pictures are allowed!
Dus na de lezing wist ik het! Ik ga van mijn twee tops één quiltje maken, net als het origineel. Gisterenavond heb ik de twee tops exact op elkaar gespannen en doorgeregen.
So after the reading I knew it! I'm going to make one quilt of my two tops, just like the original. Yesterday evening I taped my two tops exactly on to eachother on the kitchentable and sandwiched them.
Vandaag begonnen met doorquilten... eerst maar eens
geprobeerd 'gewoon' the quilten. De quilt is zó dik en stug door alle
naadjes dat ik steeds maar één steekje op mijn naald kon krijgen. Het resultaat aan de achterkant was daardoor niet om over naar huis te schrijven, ongelijke steken, schots en scheef. Zo wil ik het niet.
Today I started to quilt... first I tried to handquilt the 'normal' way. The quilt is very thick and stif, that I only managed to get one stitch on my needle. The result at the back was terrible, unequal stitches, higgledy-piggledy. That's not the way I want it.
Dus een tweede poging gewaagd, en hierbij steeds met de naald van boven naar onder gestoken. Het resultaat was al wat beter, maar nu krijg ik allemaal van die scheve steekjes aan de achterkant.
So the second attempt, stitching the needle up and down. The result is a bit better but the stitches at the back are all crooked now.
Het zat me helemaal niet lekker, om nu op deze manier de hele quilt door te gaan quilten. Het quiltje is ook zo dik en stug, ga ik dit ooit als echt quiltje gebruiken? Nee, want hier wil je écht geen baby onder leggen. En ophangen aan de muur? Dan is het toch jammer dat je die mooie achterkant niet ziet.
Dus nu ben ik er uit, ik ga er tóch twee quiltjes van maken. Ik heb net de rijgdraadjes er weer uit gehaald. Op zolder twee mooie toiles gevonden voor de achterkanten, en morgen opnieuw rijgen.
I wasn't satisfied with it, to quilt the whole quilt this way? The quilt feels thick and stif, am I ever going to use this quilt? No, because you don't want to put a baby under this. And to hang it on the wall? Then it's a pity of those nice backside that you'le never see.
So now I know what to do, I'm going to make two quilts of it. I've just removed the basting threads. At the attic I've found two nice toiles for the backings, and tomorrow I'm going to sandwich them again.

de poppenquiltjesclub bij Dorry. Elke maand komen we met een aantal leden op de woensdagochtend bij elkaar om het nieuwste patroontje in ontvangst te nemen, en een begin te maken aan het quiltje (of verder te werken aan één van de vorige quiltjes). Dorien en ik zijn érg fanatiek, en we proberen 'op schema' te blijven, d.w.z. we proberen om steeds elke maand het quiltje af te krijgen. Soms moet je daarvoor wel eens smokkelen, zoals ik afgelopen keer...
As you know I'm a member of Dorry's DollQuiltClub. Each month we come together on a wednesdaymorning to receive the latest pattern, and to start up the dollquilt (or to work further on one of the other dollquilts).
Dorien and I are véry fanatical, and we try to stay 'on schedule', that means we try to finish our quilt each month. Sometimes you have to cheat for that, like me last time...
... want het quiltje waar ik hier achter schuil ga is niet van mij, maar is het voorbeeld quiltje van Dorry! Ik heb het mijne nog niet af, het bestaat nog uit een aantal losse sterren.
... because the quilt after wich I'm hyding is not mine, but is the examplequilt of Dorry! I haven't finished mine yet, I only have made a couple of starblocks.
Ik heb al 12 sterrenblokken met de hand gemaakt, dus het schiet al aardig op. Misschien dat ik 'm, net als Dorien ook wel vierkant ga maken, dan hoef ik nog maar één ster :)
I have made 12 blocks by hand already, so I'm almost finished. Maybe I'm going to make it square, just like Dorien's quilt, then I only have to make one starblock :)
Maar de reden van dit alles komt NU. Ik loop achter omdat ik het poppenquiltje van deze maand ontworpen en gemaakt heb. De naam is erg toepasselijk 'Dye Hearts'.
Een vrolijk quiltje met geappliqueerde hartjes. Het formaat is 30 x 37,5 cm, en elk blokje is 7,5 x 7,5 cm, lekker klein dus, en natuurlijk weer helemaal met de hand gemaakt!
But the reason of this comes NOW. I'm being behind because I designed and made the dollquilt of this month. It's name is 'Dye Hearts', a cheerfull quilt with appliqué hearts. The size is 12 x 15 inch, and each block is 3 x 3 inch small, and ofcourse totally made by hand!

It's snowing again, snow on Valentine's Day, so romantic... and it's Carnaval over here in the Southern parts of The Netherlands. Brrrr, I'm staying at home working on this.

Mooi he, dat hart van hexagonnetjes, ik kreeg het van Lia. Het hangt in mijn keuken bij al mijn andere mooie hebbedingetjes.
The hexagonalheart was a present from Lia. It's hanging in my kitchen, next to all my other 'treasures'.
QuiltsPosted by Jeanneke 14 Feb, 2010 10:48:05Vrijdag zijn we met onze HexaBee naar de Quiltbeurs in Rijswijk geweest. Ik had mezelf van tevoren streng toegesproken, alleen kopen wat je écht nodig hebt (ha, ha). Op mijn lijstje stonden een aantal dingen: Japanse lapjes in groen, vaalpaars- en geeltinten (is heel moeilijk aan te komen), en mooie toiles (die ik graag gebruik als achterkant voor quilts).
Ik ben goed geslaagd, hier zien jullie het resultaat.
Last Friday we went with our HexaBee to the Quiltfair in Rijswijk. In advance I had spoken to myself; 'Buy only what you really need (LOL). There were a few things at my list: Japanese fabrics in green, faded purple and yellow (are very hard to find), and nice toiles (which I like to use as backings for my quilts). This is the result of my shopping.
Zijn de twee stofjes op de voorgrond niet prachtig? Gevonden in de opruimingsbak van Corrie en Marij. Het zijn al wat 'oudere' stofjes, maar dat maakt mij niet uit. De kleine Japanse lapjes komen van het Quilterspalet, ze hebben een érg mooie en uitgebreide collectie japanse stofjes die ze verkopen in halve fat quarters (slim, hoor).

Quilt-it & Dotty langs geweest, waar 'onze'
Dorien aan het helpen was. Voor mij was het extra spannend want mijn quilt 'Valentine' hing in het kraampje van Dorry. Het quiltje was te koop als pakketje, en een groot succes, want aan het eind van de middag waren ze uitverkocht! Het patroontje is nog wel los te koop, mochten jullie belangstelling hebben.
Aren't the lovely, those two fabrics in the front? I've found them in the sales bins of Corrie and Marij. The fabrics are from some older collections, but I don't mind, I love them. The woven Japanese fabrics come from The Quilterspalet, they have a véry nice collection of Japanes Taupes, and they sell them in halve Fat Quarters (very smart).
Ofcourse we also went by at the shop of Quilt-it & Dotty, where 'our' Dorien was helping. For me it was extra exciting because my quilt 'Valentine' was showen in Dorry's shop. It was for sale as a package, the pattern together with the fabrics. Lucky enough it was a great success, at the end of the day it was sold out! But you still can buy the pattern, if you are interested.

HexaBee Quilt. Nu nog mijn middenblok verder afmaken en dan kan ik alles aan elkaar zetten.
20 Blocks with 8-pointed stars I've made last week (by hand). They'll come around the middleblock of my HexaBee Quilt. Now I've to finish my middleblock, and than I can sew it together.
Het was moeilijk kiezen uit al die mooie Japanse stofjes die ik in de afgelopen 3 jaar verzameld heb... maar ja, wij quilters hebben nooit stof genoeg, toch?
It was difficult to choose from all those nice Japanese fabrics I've collected over the last 3 years... but what, we quilters never have enough fabrics don't you think?
Volgende week gaan we verder met de hexagon randen die rondom de sterrenbloken komen, in totaal 480 hexagonnetjes! Het worden hexagon bloemetjes, en die wil ik van allemaal verschillende stofjes maken. Binnenkort maar weer eens langs bij
haar, of volgende maand op de quiltbeurs in Rijswijk zoeken

Next week thursday we continue with the next 'round', the borders with the hexagonals, in total 480! They will become hexagonal flowers, and I wish to make every flower from a different fabric. So I have to stop by at her place, or look at the quiltingfair in Rijswijk next month.
QuiltsPosted by Jeanneke 21 Jan, 2010 18:52:36Vandaag heb ik tijdens de wekelijkse Bee verder gewerkt aan mijn middenblok van de HexaBee Quilt. Al de blaadjes zitten inmiddels in de boom (he, he...) en nu mogen de bloemen er in! Dit gaat allemaal nog niet zo snel want appliceren is iets dat ik nog niet zo vaak gedaan heb, vooral niet van die kleine, puntige vormpjes.
Today at our weekly Bee I've worked on the middleblock of my HexaBee Quilt. All the leaves are in the tree now (he, he...) and now I can put the flowers in! This is not going very fast, because applicating is something I don't do very often, and especially not those very tiny shapes.
Ook ben ik aan het twijfelen geslagen... zal ik de vogeltjes onder de boom doen, of tóch iets anders? Ik heb n.l. een ander heel leuk idee, nog even broeden...
I'm also hesitating... shall I put the birds under the tree, or something different? I have another nice idea, but I have to think about it...

... with my latest quilt. I've made it the last two weeks, and couldn't stop, it was great!
Het begon allemaal met dit kleine blokje, dat ik jullie een paar weken geleden al liet zien. Het eerste blokje van mijn Courthouse Steps poppenquiltje... tja, ik vond een Log Cabin eigenlijk tóch leuker.
It all started with this tiny block, which I showed you a couple of weeks ago. The first block of my Courthouse Steps dollquilt... well, it turned out to become a Log Cabin, because I thought that would be nicer.
Ik begon met alle strookjes op maat te snijden, zodat ik kon gaan 'chain piecen' op de naaimachine.
I started cutting all strips into pieces, so I could go on chain piecing at the machine.
Ik maakte een heleboel blokken achter elkaar...
I made a lot of blocks...
... die ik daarna aan elkaar zette.
... which I sewed together afterwards.
Ondertussen legde ik de stroken op de grond. Ik wilde al mijn repen stof opgebruiken, maar wist nog niet precies welke vorm de quilt zou krijgen. In elk geval wilde ik wel een middenvlak in de quilt maken, zodat er een idee van een 'antiek' quiltje ontstond.
Zou ik dit panel in het midden gebruiken?
In the meanwhile I layed the strips on the ground. I wanted to use up all my fabric strips, so I didn't know exactly which size the quilt would be. The only thing I knew for sure was to create a larger middle block, to create an 'antique' look.

Of deze toile stof? - Or this Toile fabric?
Uiteindelijk besloot ik zelf een middenpanel te maken, een hart van hele kleine stukjes stof (12x12 mm) die ik met reverse applique achter de toile ondergrondstof naaide.
Eventually I decide to create the middle block myself, a heart made of very tiny pieces (1/2 x 1/2 inch) which I reversed appliqued behind the toile fabric.
In totaal maakte ik 116 Log Cabin blokken van 9 x 9 cm (afgewerkt). De afmeting van de quilt is 90 x 108 cm, hi, hi, dat is geen poppenquiltje maar wel een mooi babydekentje geworden! Ik heb daarna de quilt diagonaal doorgequilt met blauw garen van ILY.
In total I've made 116 Log Cabinblocks sized 3.75 x 3.75 inch. The size of the quilt is 36 x 43 inch, hi, hi, that's no dollquilt, but a nice cribquilt! After that I quilted the quilt in diagonal lines with blue thread from ILY.
In het middenpanel heb ik twee initialen geborduurd. Ik printte de letters uit op papier, knipte ze uit en 'perforeerde' met een 0,5 mm potlood de omtrek op de stof. Daarna borduurde ik met twee draadjes DMC garen de initialen op de bovenlaag van de stof (dus niet door de drie lagen).
In the middleblock I've embroided two initials. I printed the capitals on paper, cutted them out and 'perforated' with a 0.5 mm pencil the outlines on the fabric. After that I embroidered the initials with two threads of DMC yarn on the top layer (so not through the backing).

Yesterday I've finished the top of the backside of my antique cribquilt. This morning I ironed it, and this is the result.

FrontsideZoals jullie zien past hij geweldig bij de voorkant, gelukkig maar dat het formaat exact hetzelfde is uitgevallen.
Nu komt het moeilijkste, het doorquilten. Het originele quiltje (waar
HIER een foto van te vinden is, en in het boek 'Geschiedenis van de Nederlandse quilt' van An Moonen afgebeeld staat op blz. 166-167) is vanaf de voorkant doorgequilt, in de naden, tussen de sterrenblokken en driehoekenrand.
Nadeel hiervan is dat het patroon niet aansluit bij de blokken van de achterkant, dus aan de achterkant ziet het er vreemd doorgequilt uit. Ook lijkt het me ontzettend moeilijk om het dubbelgepatchte quiltje door te quilten, het is ontzettend dik door de vele naadjes.
Ik zit dus te twijfelen om er toch maar twee aparte quiltjes van te gaan maken, dan kan ik ze ook leuk naast elkaar ophangen aan de muur. Maar ja, dan is het niet meer zoals het origineel...
Of ik ga beide delen apart doorquilten, met alleen een dunne tussenvulling erachter, en voeg beide delen na het quilten samen. Maar hoe krijg ik die twee delen dan stevig en netjes op elkaar?
Hoe zouden jullie het doen, heeft iemand een gouden tip?
As you can see it suits very nice with the frontside, lucky for me sizes are exact the same.
Now start the most hardest part, the quilting. The original quilt (which you can see over HERE and which you can find in the book 'History of the Dutch Quilt' of An Moonen at page 166-167), is quilted from the frontside in the ditch. But the blocks on the front doesn't have the same measurements as the blocks at the back, so the quilting at the back doesn't 'fit'.
And won't it be hard to quilt a double patched quilt, it's very thick because of many seams.
I'm hesitating what to do, maybe I'm going to make two apart quilts of it, then I can hang them next to each other at the wall. But then it's not like the origional quilt anymore...
Maybe I'm going to quilt both parts apart from eachother, with only a thin batting behind it, and put those two parts together after quilting. But how will I match those two parts nice and firm together?
What would you do?

poppenclub bij Dorry. Ik ben er vorige week tijdens de PoppenBee met de hand aan begonnen, maar na één blokje besluit ik toch met de machine verder te gaan. Het wordt een Courthouse Steps quiltje en krijgt de naam 'Dorus'.
Today I'm going to work on the newest dollquilt from Dorry's Dollclub. I've started it up last week at the DollBee by hand, but after one block I decide to continue by machine. Its a Courthouse Steps quilt and has the name 'Dorus'.

Trouwens volgens mij hebben jullie helemaal nog geen foto's gezien van het tweede en derde poppenquiltje!

By the way, I didn't show you pictures of the finished second and third quilts!
Zoals jullie zien geeft ieder zijn quiltje een eigen 'touch', dus zien ze er niet allemaal exact hetzelfde uit. Dat is nu juist zo leuk.
Het rood-witte quiltje is ontworpen door
Barbara en heet 'Dirk's Dassen'. Nou, toevallig had ik nog wel een 'Dirk' die er heel blij mee is!
As you can see everyone gives her's quilt an own 'touch', so no quilt looks exact the same.That's what I like about it.
The red-white quilt is designed by Barbara and is called 'Dirk's Ties'. And by chance I've got a 'Dirk' who's very happy with it!
De pop is een patroon van Tilda en staat in het boek 'Crafting Christmas Gifts'. Ik heb 'm enkele jaren geleden al gemaakt samen met nog twee anderen, ze blijven leuk vind ik.
The pattern of the doll comes from a Tilda book called 'Crafting Christmas Gifts'. I've made him a couple of years ago, together with two other dolls. I think they're still nice.

So, I'll get to work, the weather is perfect for quilting. The ANWB (Dutch AAA Road Service) just adviced on the radio to stay at home today. But we're not going to listen, and will go for a walk in the snow later. Because how many times it happens that there lays SO MUCH snow in The Netherlands?

Afgelopen weekend heb ik de top van mijn 'antieke' kinderquiltje af gemaakt.
Nu ga ik verder met de achterkant, die wordt ook gepatcht! De tekening is al klaar, de malletjes zijn al gesneden, dus vanavond kan (mag) ik beginnen.
Last weekend I've finished the top of my 'Antique' cribquilt. Now I continue with the backside, which will also be patched!
The drawing is already made, the templates are cut, so tonight I can (may) start.

Het snijden van de malletjes op mijn manier is een heel precies werkje, maar met gebruik van de juiste materialen is het niet moeilijk. En als je de malletjes eenmaal hebt is het aftekenen op de stof zo gebeurd!
I'm getting many questions by mail about 'how I cut those handy templates', so I'll give you a photo explanation in this post. Cutting the templates my way is a very precise job, but when using the right materials it's not hard to do. And when you've finished cutting the templates you can mark off the fabric very fast!
MATERIAAL LIJST- paternoplaat (dun)
- snijmat, liefst licht van kleur
- geodriehoek
- inch lineaal of andere quiltlineaal die dik is
- chirurgenmesje (houder nr. 3, mesje nr. 11, te koop in een grafische artikelen winkel)
- watervaste stift, medium dikte
- watervaste stift, dunne dikte
MATERIAL LIST
- template plastic (thin)
- cutting mat, preferably light coloured
- geo triangel ruler
- inch ruler or another 'thick' quilting ruler
- surgeon knife (handle no. 3, knife/blade no. 11, buy it in a graphic material shop)
- permanent marker, medium
- permanent marker, fine
Leg de paternoplaat op het patroondeel, hier ga ik deel
N snijden.
Put the template plastic on the drawing, I'm going to cut out N.
Teken met behulp van de medium watervaste stift en de geodriehoek de lijnen over op de paternoplaat.
Copy the lines of the drawing on the template plastic by using a medium permanent marker and a geo triangel ruler.
Teken halverwege elke binnenlijn twee markeerstreepjes, dit gedeelte wordt straks
niet weggesneden.
Leg daarna de afgetekende paternoplaat op een lichtgekleurde snijmat (op een groene snijmat zie je de afgetekende lijnen niet goed). Heb je alleen een groene snijmat? Leg dan een wit velletje papier op de snijmat onder de afgetekende paternoplaat.
Draw at each inner line two marking lines, this is the part that's not going to be cut away.
Put the copied template plastic on a light coloured cutting mat (on a green cutting mat you can't see the copied lines very well). Do you only have a green cutting mat? Then put first a white piece of paper on the cutting mat, and put the copied template plastic on the paper.
Een chirurgenmes bestaat uit een houder/handvat en een mesje. Gebruik voor het snijden van paternoplaat een scherp, nieuw mesje, dat je in de houder kun klikken. Zet nooit teveel kracht/druk op het mesje tijdens het snijden, anders kan het mesblad afbreken. Probeer niet in één keer door de paternoplaat te snijden, maar snij twee of drie keer over dezelfde lijn.
Pas op, een chirurgenmesje is erg scherp, ben voorzichtig!
Snij met een chirurgenmesje langs een inch lineaal de lijnen uit de paternoplaat. Dit gaat als volgt: Begin met de binnenlijnen,
snij eerst links van de afgetekende lijn, draai het werk en
snij dan rechts van de afgetekende lijn, zo ontstaat een 'gleufje'.
Let op, snij niet door waar de twee markeerstreepjes staan afgetekend, dit gedeelte blijft 'dicht' en mag niet doorgesneden worden. Werk zo alle binnenlijnen af, en snij als laatste de buitenlijnen uit
op de afgetekende lijn.
A surgeon knife has a handle part and a knife/blade part. Always use a fresh, sharp knife when you're going to cut the template plastic, you can 'click' in the blade in the handle. Don't push to hard while cutting, because the blade can break very easily. Don't try to cut in one time through the template plastic, but cut two or three times on the same line.
Be careful, a surgeon knife is very sharp!
Cut the lines out of the template plastic, by cutting along an inch ruler. Start with cutting the inner lines, firts cut left from the line, turn your work and then cut right from the same line, this way you get a 'groove'. Watch out, don't cut through the marking lines, this part has to remain 'closed' an not cut out. Cut all the inner lines this way, and then cut the out lines, by cutting on the copied lines.
Snij nu dwars op alle markeerstreepjes -
Cut on all marking lines
Zodat de uitgesneden 'gleufjes' loskomen -
This way all 'grooves' come out
Nu is het malletje klaar! -
Now the template is finished!
Aftekenen op de stof kan het beste met een watervaste dunne pen direct op de achterkant van de stof. Maar als je 'op patroon' wilt aftekenen (zoals hier dat het bloemetje precies in het midden moet zitten), teken dan eerst de buitenlijn op de goede kant van de stof...
Best you can copy the template with a fine line permanent marker on the back side of the fabric. But if you wish to copy 'on pattern' (like here, where I wish the flower to be exactly in the middle), then first draw the out line on the front side of the fabric...
...knip het patroondeel dan uit -

en teken dan op de achterkant van de stof de binnenlijnen.
