Antiek kinderquiltje - Antique cribquilt

Klik maar eens HIER dan kunnen jullie zien welke ik bedoel, het is het bovenste quiltje op de pagina. Het quiltje is dubbelzijdig en heeft dus een mooie voorkant én een mooie achterkant!
Het patroon had ik al lang geleden getekend, alleen ontbrak het me aan moed om eraan te beginnen. Ik wil 'm op de ware grootte namaken, dus dat worden hele kleine stukjes...
Last week I started a new quiltproject, a reproduction of a cribquilt from the book of An Moonen. Click HERE and you can see what I mean, it's the quilt on top of the page. The quilt is double sided, it has a nice front- and backside!
I've drawned the pattern a long time ago, only I didn't have the currage to start with it. I want to reproduce it at the real size, so the pieces will be very small...
De sterrenblokjes aan de voorkant van het quiltje worden maar 65 mm groot, dus leek het me het beste om de quilt met papiertjes te gaan maken. Over het eerste blokje deed ik 3 uur... toch niet zo handig als ik gedacht.
Dus het tweede blokje gewoon met de hand gepieced, dat ging al een stuk beter!
The star blocks at the front of the quilt are only 2.6 inch, so I planned to use the English method, using small paper templates. After 3 hours I finished the first block... not as clever as I thought.
So the second block I pieced the normal way by hand, that went better!
Om het tekenen van de patroondeeltjes op de stof wat gemakkelijker te maken sneed ik deze malletjes uit paternoplaat. De binnenrand is de stiklijn, en de buitenrand is de kniplijn. Op de foto zien jullie hoe klein ze zijn.
To simplify the drawing of the pattern on the fabric I cut out these templates. The inner border is the piece line, the out border is the cutting line. At this picture you can see how small they are.
Zo ging het tekenen razendsnel - This way the drawing went very quick
Natuurlijk ga ik dit quiltje maken van reproduktiestofjes, en wel van de serie Sturbridge Village IV van Marcus Brothers. Deze stofjes vind ik wel toepasselijk omdat ze nagemaakt zijn van stofjes uit de 19e eeuw, het quiltje is oorspronkelijk ook uit deze eeuw (rond 1815).
Ofcourse I'm going to use reproduction fabrics for this quilt, The Sturbridge Village IV collection from Marcus Brothers. This fabrics are very suitable as they are from the same time period as the real cribquilt is.
Dit zijn de eerste drie rijen met sterrenblokken die al klaar zijn, nog maar 52 blokken te gaan...
This are the first three star blocks rows wich are finished, only 52 blocks to go...
Mijn vriendinnen Anske en Christel van onze HexaBee zijn ook al om, en doen ook mee! Ook zij gaan deze quilt maken, gezellig!
My friends Anske and Christel from our HexaBee are also going to make this quilt!

I am amazed at how little those pieces are! The fabrics are just perfect.
