Hoogste tijd om het tweede poppenquiltje genaamd 'Dolly' af te maken. Het is een reproduktie van een echt oud poppenquiltje. Het was blijven liggen omdat ik me volledig gestort heb op DIT.
Next week it's already time for the third dollclub at Dorry, this time Barbara is going to design the dollquilt and she's coming to teach us, too. So it's about time to finish the second dollquilt named 'Dolly'. It's a reproduction of a real old dollquilt. I left it unfinished because I was doing THIS.
Zoals jullie zien ga ik als een speer met mijn antieke kinderquiltje, ik heb al 54 (van de 76) sterrenblokken af. Overal waar ik naartoe ga neem ik dit handige blikje mee, met een schaartje, naald, draad en stofjes. Nee, ik ben helemaal niet verslaafd!
As you can see I'm going like a spear (I don't know this is the right way to translate it...) with my antique cribquilt, I've already finished 54 (from 76) star blocks. Everywhere I go I take this small tin with me, with a scissors, needle, thread and fabric pieces. No I'm not addicted!
Maar even weer over het poppenquiltje... afgelopen zondag heb ik de top verder af gemaakt op de machine. Het is wel iets anders geworden dan in Dorry's beschrijving, want die was, nou ja, gewoon typisch Dorry.
But again about the dollquilt... last sunday I've finished the top on my sewing machine. It turned out a bit different then was planned in Dorry's description, because it was, well yeh, typical Dorry.
Ik heb twee stofjes extra toegevoegd, een zwart-wit ruitje zoals ook in het originele quiltje zit, en een okergeel toile stofje (mijn favoriet). Ik heb me n.l. voorgenomen om in ieder poppenquiltje éénzelfde stofje te laten terugkomen, in mijn geval dus de okergele toile. Wel grappig wat in het originele quiltje zit ook één stukje waar je van denkt, hoort dit wel hier?
I've submitted two extra fabrics, a black and white check as is also used in the original dollquilt, and a yellow ochre toile fabric (my favorite one). My intention is to use a piece of one and the same fabric in all dollquilts, in my case the yellow ochre toile. Funny because there's also one piece in the original dollquilt about which you think, does it belong in here?
Nu ben ik aan het quilten, dus het is bijna af.
Now I'm busy quilting it, so it's almost finished.

I love your idea to use a small piece of the yellow fabric in each of the quilts you make with your club. Years from now it will give someone a puzzle wondering why you used that one odd fabric. I, too, just discovered your blog and it is a feast for the eyes. Happy New Year and happy quilting.

Hi Jeanneke I try to carry over fabrics into the next quilt too so that they all have a connection with each other.. Just love your doll quilt especially the little blue and white check.
I have just discovered your blog and have already told two of my friends about it. Just love it
I am making the Nearly Insane Quilt. Every block could almost be a Dolls Quilt :-)

Je poppenquiltje is heel mooi geworden Jeanneke. Het An Moonen quiltje is voor de feestdagen wel af denk ik, prachtig!
